Louisiana man wanted for rape, kidnapping caught

A federal taskforce working in LaFourche parish captured a man wanted for kidnapping his two kids from his ex-wife after allegedly beating and raping his ex-wife. Lionel Raymond was apprehended on the afternoon of August 26 in Thibodeaux, according to Michelle Joseph of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s office.

Raymond has been wanted since July 31, when he forced his way into his ex-wife’s Boutte home before allegedly physically and sexually assaulting her, according to a St. Charles arrest report.

The victim escaped when she persuaded her predatory ex-husband to drop her and the kids off at work in Harahan. He forced the victim out of the car at her workplace, taking it and the kids to a mutual acquaintance, where he fled the scene.

Raymond was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility in Hahnville on charges of aggravated rape, simple kidnapping, second-degree battery, and two attachments from the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office. His bond was not set as of press time.
