[Donna Sandlin. 47, was a counselor's aide at Fossil Ridge High School, and was reported missing 3-26-08].

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports defense attorney Walt Cleveland said Sandlin had initially wanted to go to trial in hopes that a jury would impose a lighter sentence.
Cleveland said Sandlin decided to plead guilty because he didn't want to put his children and family through a trial.

Prosecutor Alana Minton says she's satisfied with the sentence, saying, quote, "The family was very happy. At his age, this is essentially a life sentence."

Sandler will have to serve hlf his sentence before being eligible for parole.
