couple charged with rape of boyfriend's baby's mama

A Lawndale (neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago) man was being held on $750,000 bond for raping his baby’s mama in front of his new girlfriend, who was also charged with rape and domestic battery for not doing anything about the attack. Fuzzell Cannady, 36, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated domestic abuse.

The girlfriend, who is 24, went to Cannady and his new girlfriend’s apartment where Cannady aruegd that the victim cheated on him. After the victim said she hadn’t cheated, cannady choked her and beat her to make her confess. The beating happened for the next 6 to 8 hours, according to police, and occurred with fists, a shoe, a cast and a broomstick. He also restrained the woman and had sex with his girlfriend, 40 year old Cheryl Larson, in front of the victim before he raped her.

"The victim continuously screamed and begged for him to stop and for defendant Larson to call the police, which Larson ignored and just told the victim to own up to what she did," [Assistant State’s Attorney Suzanne] Groebner said.

The victim escaped when the suspects fell asleep, and they were arrested at the scene. Both suspects appeared before Circuit Judge Israel Desierto. The girlfriend was held on $250,000 bond.
