Woman charged with biting boyfriend's lip off during fight

A 26 year old Las Cruces, NM woman is facing a third degree felony charge after biting her "boyfriend's" lip off during an argument on Sunday May 1, 2011. Aurelia Lorena Reyes, 26, is charged with one count of aggravated battery against a household member causing great bodily injury, a third-degree felony.

At around 11 p.m. Sunday, Las Cruces police were called to the Coachlight Inn at 301 S. Motel Blvd., where officers found the victim with a bloody face. The 35-year-old man was taken to a local hospital and then, because of the severity of his injuries, to University Medical Center of El Paso. His injuries are not life-threatening.

According to Las Cruces police, Reyes had an argument with her boyfriend, who told her to leave. Reyes became angry, so she grabbed the victim's head and bit off his upper lip, which was found about two feet from the entrance to their shared apartment. After hiding out in a neighboring school parking lot, Reyes turned herself it Monday, May 2 morning. Reyes is currently being held on $10,000 bond in the Dona Ana County Detention Center.

Former beauty queen pleads guilty to soliciting kidnapping of "boyfriend," sentenced to 2 years in prison, 6 years probation

A former beauty queen has plead guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and aggravated assault Tuesday, December 8. Twenty-seven year old Kumari Fulbright's guilty plea was heard and accepted by Pima County Superior Court Judge Richard Nichols, who will formally sentence her to two years in prison for aggravated assault and seven years probation for kidnapping.

Fulbright and three other defendants, Larry Hammond, Robert Ergonis, and David Wayne Radde planned and carried out the attack, according to law enforcement. The motive for the attack, according to prosecutors, was Fulbright's anger at her jewelry being pawned off to settle a $16,000 drug debt.

Defense attorney Steve Weiss told Judge Richard Nichols that Fulbright conspired with others to restrain her former boyfriend in December 2007 and brandished a knife near his ear, threatening to cut it. Although she signed a plea agreement, Fulbright was reluctant to verbally acknowledge her actions and accept the terms in court, as required, saying she did not agree with her attorney's description of the crime.

Each time Nichols asked Fulbright if she committed a particular act, she refused to answer directly. Instead answering yes or no, Fulbright told the judge such things as "I agree I'm pleading guilty" or "I am guilty" or "The evidence shows that."

At one point, Fulbright also snapped that she reads, writes and understands English and she signed the plea agreement. Eventually, Fulbright said, "OK, yes" when asked if she conspired to have the man restrained, she brandished the knife and she threatened him with it.

Fulbright was a law clerk for a federal court and a law student at the University of Arizona. She won the Miss Pima County pageant in 2005 and the Miss Desert Sun pageant in 2006. Hammond plead guilty to aggravated assault, and faces a sentence of as much as 8 3/4 years in prison. Radde also plead guilty to kidnapping conspiracy charges and faces 3 to 12 1/2 years in this case as well as another 3 to 12 1/2 years for unrelated drugs and weapons charges. All sentences will be handed down after the trial of Ergonis.

(Update 12-13-10) The former law clerk was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and 6 years probation for her role in the kidnapping of her "boyfriend." Pima County Superior Court Judge Michael Miller handed down the sentence after Fulbright pled guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and aggravated assault in a Tuscon, AZ courtroom Thursday, December 9.

Defense attorney Steve Sherick asked for 18 months of probation. Prosecutor Michael Jette didn’t specify how long he thought she should be placed on probation, but told Miller she didn’t live up to the terms of her plea agreement and almost had it revoked.Jette told Miller Fulbright has done “anything and everything” to protect Ergonis, thus violating her promise to tell the truth on the stand. She also told Radde what he should testify, Jette said.

[The victim]’s desire to move on with his life is the only reason Fulbright was extended a plea agreement in the first place and it’s the only reason it hasn’t been revoked, Jette said. Fulbright still hasn’t accepted responsibility for her actions or shown remorse, Jette said.

Sherick told Miller his client’s testimony was truthful and consistent with police statements and defense interviews she’s given. The defense attorney cited Fulbright’s remorse and behavior while on pretrial release and while in jail as reasons for a short term of probation.

Besides the prison sentence, Fulbright was also ordered to pay $15,000 restitution to her victim. Ergonis will be sentenced later this week.

(Update 1-12-11) Ergonis was sentenced to 22 1/2 years imprisonment on December 16, 2010. He was convicted in November 2010 by a Pima County jury of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated robbery. It was revealed that Fulbright had been "dating" Ergonis for months, writing him while he was on tril to tell him that the prosecution had no case and that she did not want to testify against him.

Duke lacrosse accuser charged with attempted murder of "boyfriend", convicted on misdemeanor counts

The Duke Lacrosse accuser has been charged with serious offenses of her own, including arson and the attempted murder of her "boyfriend." 31 year old Crystal Mangum attacked her "boyfriend" and set his clothes on fire while her three children were inside, according to an arrest warrant handed out Wednesday night.

According to the arrest warrant, Mangum scratched, punched, and threatened her "boyfriend," Milton Walker after he decided to break up with her. Mangum's 9 year old daughter called 911.

After picking up the remains of his clothes, the victim said, "I don't know what she was thinking, sometimes she does things without thinking...I believe Crystal is a good person, so there's no problem. We were friends before so I hope everything works out for the best,"

In March 2006, Mangum accused three Duke lacrosse players of raping her at a party where she was hired to strip. The case gained national attention. In April 2007, all charges were dropped by Attorney General Roy Cooper. The case also led to Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong being disbarred. Mangum later released a book entitled "The Last Dance for Grace: The Crystal Mangum Story."

Mangum is currently being held on $1 million bond. Her official charges are 5 counts of arson, 3 counts of misdemeanor child abuse, attempted first degree murder, assault and battery, identification theft, communicating a threat, injury to personal property, and resisting [a] public officer.

(Update 1-7-11 - mistrial on arson charges) Last month on December 16, Mangum was found guilty of injury to personal property, child abuse, and resisting an officer. Superior Court Judge Abe Jones sentenced her to 88 days in jail - time she had already served. Jurors deadlocked 9 to 3 in favor of a non guilty verdict on the 1st degree arson charge. Three of those jurors believed Mangum was guilty of being reckless in setting fire to the "boyfriend"'s clothing.

Supporter Victoria Peterson reiterated a claim by the Friends of Crystal Mangum that authorities were punishing Mangum for accusing Duke lacrosse players of rape in 2006. Mangum was retaliating against her boyfriend, Milton Walker, for allegedly punching her in the face; Walker was never charged. "It's a victory," Peterson said of the judge and jury's decisions.

Over the past 10 months, Peterson and others have complained about Mangum's treatment, which included an attempted murder charge, $1 million bond, the 88 days in jail and a no-contact order with her children."There did seem to be a lot of severe charges for what the evidence showed," said jury forewoman Shauna Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Durham County prosecutor Mark McCullough will decide later this month whether to retry Mangum on the 1st degree arson count.

Woman sentenced to life without parole for shooting ex-"girlfriend" after argument

A Manatee, FL woman who was convicted of killing her ex-"partner" was sentenced to life without parole Friday, March 19. Cynthia Monson, 51, was sentenced to the mandatory life without parole term for the murder of her ex, Patricia Thomas January 2009. While Monson's attorney claimed self-defense, Assistant State Attorney Art Brown said that Monson's re-enactment of the killing proved intent to kill.

“Even though she claimed she was in fear ... she kept adjusting her arm so she could shoot her in the head. It really became clear that it was done with intent and not in self-defense.”

At the time of her arrest, Monson told detectives she and Thomas had been arguing about their past relationship and custody of a child they adopted together.

Monson told detectives that she bought a gun on Jan. 13 after several arguments with Thomas in the weeks prior to the shooting. Four days later Thomas arrived at Monson’s home, in the 6400 block of Second Avenue Northeast, and they argued.

Thomas claimed to have a gun in her vehicle and Monson “determined at that time that it was her or the victim,” sheriff’s reports state. Prosecutors say Monson then opened fire on her ex-girlfriend with the revolver she had obtained days prior. Sheriff’s report say she shot Thomas five times, including in the back of the head.

The Manatee County jury took only two hours to convict Monson. The victim and perp were a couple for a dozen years, up until just before the shooting.

Curry poisoner gets minimum 23 year sentence for murder of "lover" after refusing to leave fiancee

Lakhvir Gaur Singh murdered Lakhvinder “Lucky” Cheema when she learned that he had rejected her and chosen a younger bride, Gurjeet Choough. Singh, 45, laced their vegetable curry with aconite, nicknamed the Queen of Poisons, which left Mr Cheema dying in agonising pain. His fiancée spent three days in a coma after the poisoning in January last year and has yet to recover fully.

Singh looked close to tears in the dock at the Old Bailey as she was told she would be nearly 70 by the time she was released. Passing a life sentence, Judge Paul Worsley said: You were not just a spurned lover, you did not simply explode in anger at your rejection. “You set about a cold and calculating revenge. You knew how deadly aconite was and how agonising the effects would be.”

Singh, a married mother of three, was found guilty of murder and grievous bodily harm but was cleared of attempting to poison 39-year-old Mr Cheema on an earlier occasion. Many of Mr Cheema’s relatives were in the public gallery to watch as Singh was sentenced.

His fiancee, now 23, said: “The poisoning led to Lakhvinder’s death and took me to the brink of death. I believe it will affect me for the rest of my life. I can never forgive Lakhvir as she has murdered one person and seriously harmed me. “Lakhvinder was looking forward to having children and also having his elderly father with us but none of this is now possible.”

Mr Cheema’s sister Narinder Kaur Singh, from Windsor, said her life and that of her two sons had been destroyed by Singh’s actions. “With Lakhvinder’s departure I cannot see any reason for living. In our culture a family goes on only through a sin but this has been snatched away from our family. All our joys have been snatched away.”

Mrs Singh, 48, said her husband Varinder – whom Singh tried to blame – had left the family home and she was spurned by her in-laws. “I feel as if there is only emptiness in my life. When my brother was alive he could not bear to see me crying, now I am left to cry for the rest of my life.”

TWO people are today starting life sentences after being found guilty of the brutal torture murder of a man at the home they shared in County Durham. Clare Nicholls, 28, will serve a minimum 32 years for the torture and murder of her patrner Andrew Gardner and her brother, Simon Nicholls, 24, will serve a minimum 25 years. Her on-off lover Steven Martin, 44, is also facing a life term. He will be sentenced in February following the results of tests by a psychiatrist.

Mr Gardner’s battered and burnt body had more than 120 injuries on it when paramedics found him in his living room on March 13 last year. The 35-year-old had been starved, whipped, scalded, slashed, kicked and punched before he died in agony from a catalogue of horrific injuries.

Doctors found he had suffered 21 rib fractures and associated tissue damage as well as a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and blood poisoning. Crude abuse had been scrawled on his back in nail varnish, and marks on his torso were described in court as “a grotesque game of noughts and crosses”.

His girlfriend, her brother and her former lover denied murder but were this afternoon convicted by a jury at the end of a harrowing three-week trial.  Nicholls shook her head, laid it on a glass barrier in the dock and wept when the verdict was announced, but the two men showed no reaction.

The court heard how Clare Nicholls ruled the home in Arthur Street, Chilton, and how the men of the household were terrified of her temper. She repeatedly attacked Mr Gardner – the father of her youngest child – for what she saw as him being lazy or “stealing” food from the cupboards.

Some jurors wept during the trial as they heard how children saw the punishment beatings and, at times, were encouraged to join in. Nicholls’ brother and Martin – an ex-lover who moved into the house three weeks before Mr Gardner’s death and reignited an affair – also helped.

They later told police that Nicholls was the instigator and they were too frightened to stop the attacks in case she turned her violence towards them. On March 13 last year, Simon Nicholls made a 999 call, saying Mr Gardner had returned home half-an-hour earlier and collapsed unconscious.

He told paramedics that Mr Gardner said he had been beaten up by a gang while out for a walk, and was complaining about severe back pain. The story quickly raised doubts and police were called in, and a lengthy investigation followed – which resulted in the three being arrested.

A series of medical examinations showed that many of Mr Gardner’s injuries had been inflicted days – if not weeks or months – before he died. The suspects were released on bail, but were re-arrested and charged with murder in July when the results of the tests were received by police.

Clare Nicholls pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the end of the prosecution case, but the plea was not accepted and she was forced into the witness box. She confessed to inflicting “the best part” of Mr Gardner’s injuries, but also blamed her brother for some of the rib fractures and other beatings.

Martin was accused of “branding” Mr Gardner with a white-hot cigarette lighter, and scalding his feet and leg with boiling water from a kettle. He also owned up to repeatedly holding his lover’s boyfriend against a piping hot radiator for up to 20 seconds, causing three separate burns.

The court heard how the rib fractures were probably caused when former charity shop worker Nicholls jumped on her partner with her knees. A pathologist told the jury that the injuries were the kind usually associated with victims of car crashes or falls from “considerable” heights.

Prosecutors are seeking a 30-year starting point for the killers, but defence teams will argue this afternoon that the tariff should not be as high as that. The jurors who heard the harrowing details of Andrew Gardner's death will be spared jury service for the next 20 years.

Judge Peter Fox, QC, told the seven men and five women: "This has been a case of particular responsibility and heavy responsibility in its discharge.

"What I can decide and, indeed, pronounce my decision about, is to say as a reflection of my appreciation of the responisbility you have carried out, you are excused jury service for at least 20 years, with my thanks."

Woman appealing murder conviction in husband's shooting pleads guilty to "boyfriend's" murder for hire attempt

A Buffalo, NY woman already serving (and appealing) a 25 to life sentence for the 2nd degree murder of her husband plead guilty to the attempted murder for hire plot against her "lover," the man she cheated on her husband with. Robin Wagner Kalinowski plead guilty Wednesday, September 9, to the plot against the man after State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang promised her she would only serve 6 to 12 years.

The mother of two pleaded guilty to a felony charge of conspiracy in the second degree and admitted she had sought the murder of her estranged lover, John F. Carey of Tonawanda.

She acknowledged she tried to make a deal in April 2008 with an undercover state trooper posing as an underworld hitman.

After the judge agreed to make the conspiracy sentence run concurrently with the 25-year-to-life term imposed Feb. 25 on her murder conviction, prosecutors Aaron F. Glazer and Lauren A. Rott agreed with the plea to the highest charge still facing her.

John Jordan, Robin's lawyer, said that the plea was in the perpetrator's best interest because if she had took the case to trial and lost, she would probably serve 12 1/2 to 25 years consecutively with the 2nd degree murder sentence for Kevin Kalinowski, shot by his perpetrator wife in their Buffalo home. Robin is appealing that conviction.

Suburban Pittsburgh woman pleads to voluntary manslaughter

A Swissvale, PA woman pled guilty to the stabbing death of her "boyfriend" Monday, April 6. Yvonne Fields, 36, killed Sharief Deanda, 33 after a domestic argument in Larimer. Fields will be sentenced July 1 by by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Kathleen Durkin.

Woman gets 6 months for running over "boyfriend"

Paula Habeck, a 22 year old woman from Two Rivers, Wisconsin, was sentenced to 6 months in prison Friday for running over her "boyfriend" with a SUV last November 8, causing brain damage and $70,000 in medical bills. Habeck was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 3 years probation by Manitowoc County Circuit Judge Jerome Fox after pleading guilty to reckless driving causing bodily harm, a felony. Habeck was originally charged with felony 1st degree recklessly endangering safety and misdemeanor hit and run, but as part of the plea deal, those charges were dropped.

Habeck was sentenced to $9000 in restitution to Wisconsin's Crime Victim Compensation Program, a year driver's license revocation, and counseling. When she reports to jail March 24, she'll recieve Huber privileges, which allows her to get out of jail for work and child care.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Griesbach described Habeck's actions as stemming from jealousy, rage and possessiveness. Her boyfriend, with whom she continues to have a relationship, was lucky he lived through the event, Griesbach said.The victim has racked up more than $70,000 in medical bills from the surgery that was required to stop severe brain hemorrhaging, he said.

Griesbeck said that the man wanted leniency, but realized the seriousness of the crime. "We could be here on some level of a homicide if (the victim) did not make it that night...(The victim) struck me as having a balanced attitude."

Habeck's attorney, David Pawlowski wanted probation instead of jail time, but Judge Fox said that the crime was too serious not to warrant jail time. "It is hard to imagine many crimes which are graver than this."

Kim Jernigan accused of kidnapping virtual boyfriend

33-year-old Kimberly Jernigan tried to kidnap the virtual boyfriend that broke up with her after they met in real life on Thursday, August 21. Jernigan, of North Carolina, met a 52 year old man from Delaware in the online game Second Life. The victim’s avatar, or virtual character, was a lion, and Jernigan’s avatar was a woman. After he broke up with her in real life, she became disturbed, trying to kidnap him at gunpoint from his Pennsylvania workplace in early August. She was unsuccessful.

Police said Jernigan posed as a postal worker in order to locate the victim's new address, as he had recently moved. After four days of searching, authorities said she found residence in the Whitney Presidential Towers on the 7100 block of Society Drive in Claymont.

With her dog Gogi in tow, investigators said Jernigan cut and removed a screened window in order to enter her virtual ex's apartment.When the victim arrived home on Thursday, August 21, he told police he saw someone pointing an object at his chest that was projecting a laser beam. He immediately fled the apartment and contacted police.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered a pair of handcuffs, a roll of duct tape, a Taser and a BB gun as well as the suspect's dog.Police said Jernigan had bound her dog Gogi with duct tape and put him in the bathroom as he was making too much noise. The dog was said to be uninjured, but the SPCA is looking into possible charges of animal cruelty.

Jernigan is being held on attempted kidnapping, aggravated menacing, and burglary after she was arrested at a Maryland rest area on I-95.

Kathie DeFelice, Danvers MA, gets 8 to 13 years for stabbing ex-boyfriend to death

A 48 year old Danvers, MA woman who originally faced 1st degree murder charges for stabbing her ex-boyfriend, a 55 year old house painter, to death will serve 8 to 13 years in a Massachusetts prison after jurors convicted her of manslaughter Thursday, July 24.

After 7 years of an off and on relationship and a restraining order that Kathie DeFelice took out on William Olsen Jr, a housepainter, DeFelice broke her own restraining order to contact Olsen. After two weeks of calling him, with some calls lasting 5 hours, DeFelice invited Olsen back to her apartment on October 30, 2006.

It was there that DeFelice stabbed him with a kitchen knife that entered the center of his chest, pierced his pericardial sac and aorta and caused him to bleed to death within minutes. DeFelice testified that she grabbed the knife from a table and stabbed blindly as Olsen tried to strangle her, provoked, she said, by her request that he stop contacting her family. Then she ran out of the apartment.

But prosecutor Kate MacDougall offered jurors a different scenario, one in which DeFelice was jealous that Olsen had moved on, starting a new relationship, that she was angry because her own new boyfriend had decided to go home for the night, that she felt abandoned, perhaps, when Olsen passed out drunk on the sofa.

Salem Superior Court Judge David Lowy said while sentencing DeFelice,

"Only Ms. DeFelice knows what happened in that room on Oct. 30, 2006, but we know that the jury did not find beyond a reasonable doubt an absence of excessive force in self-defense, heat of passion or sudden combat."

York Township, PA man convicted of attempted rape of ex-girlfriend

Justin J. Mease, 21, of York Township, PA, was convicted of attempted rape and other offerses for attacking his ex-girlfriend last fall. After an argument at her Palmyra, PA home, Mease began to choke her while trying to rape her. The victim tried to leave, but he ran after her, dragged her back into the house by her hoodie, and held a knife to her throat. Mease also took her house and cell phones.

At a trial Tuesday before Lebanon County President Judge Robert J. Eby, the jury found Mease guilty of attempted rape, attempted sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, making terroristic threats, indecent assault, unlawful restraint, indecent assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, false imprisonment and theft. He was found not guilty of aggravated assault.

Sentencing was set for August 28.

Woman sentenced to 5 years for "lover" who never called back after sex

A New York college student who branded a former lover's body with a scalding piece of metal as payback for never calling her after they had sex was sentenced to five years in prison Friday.
Kristina Caban, 23, had no comment as state Supreme Court Justice Michael Obus sentenced her for what he called a crime that was "not remotely justifiable."

Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg told Obus that Caban was the "mastermind behind the plan" to sear the torso of Samir "Sammy" Sara, then 23, for having sex with her once in 2004 and never calling her again.

Caban enlisted new boyfriend Robert Testagrossa to help brand a four-inch-high "R" on Sara's abdomen in October 2006, the prosecutor said. She said Caban lured the former lover to a hotel room, where Testagrossa and another man grabbed him.

Blumberg said the men used a Taser to immobilize Sara in a room at the Chelsea Inn while Caban laughed at his distress and kicked him while he was down.

The branding "iron" was actually a length of metal wire fashioned into a "R" -- heated, and applied to Sara's torso, said Tracy Golden of the Manhattan district attorney's office. She said prosecutors did not know what the "R" stood for.

Caban and Testagrossa, 27, pleaded guilty to assault in August 2007 in exchange for five-year sentences. Testagrossa was sentenced in February and Caban, a photography student, was allowed to graduate from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan before going to prison.
Blumberg said the third assailant remains at large. He said Sara will have a permanent, tragic memento of his encounter with Caban.

Caban's lawyer, James Friedman said, "She's a good kid, despite the picture painted of her, who exercised poor judgment and got herself into a bad situation. She is not the monster the prosecution made her out to be."

Caban's father, Rafael Caban, 55, is a retired Correction Department captain.

Testagrossa is the son of two prosecutors. His father Charles is the executive assistant district attorney in Queens who prosecuted the Sean Bell police shooting case. His mother is a lawyer in the Nassau County district attorney's office.

Adamstown, Maryland man convicted of rape of girlfriend

A Maryland man was convicted of five counts of first-degree rape and one count each of second-and third-degree sex offense for raping his girlfriend April 15, 2007 after 5 hours of deliberation. The rape was the culmination of an abusive and violent relationship he had with his "partner," a Rockville, MD woman who had a daughter by him and two other girls from previous relationships.

George W. Mathis of Adamtown faced life in prison for the 1st degree rape charges, and sentencing will be August 13. The defense lawyer is Assistant Public Defender Stephen Musselman and the prosecuting lawyer is Assistant State's Attorney Lindell K. Angel.

He had been with the victim for 7 years, starting in March 2000. The rape occurred after the victim was caught with another man, according to Mathis.

In July 2002, Mathis attacked her shortly before she gave birth to their daughter, she said. Delivery nurses questioned her about bruises on her arms and her legs.

The week the baby was due, Mathis became angry when he saw she'd set up a nursery at her father's Montgomery County residence; he wanted her to move back in with him in Adamstown.
"He broke the crib É and tore apart the room," the 36-year-old woman said. "The room was just destroyed."

Those two instances of violence were among five earlier outbursts by Mathis a jury was allowed to hear about Tuesday, the second day of his rape trial.

Spanning November 2001 to May 2004, the instances illustrated "a continuum" of bad acts, Judge John H. Tisdale said Tuesday, finding them relevant to the proceedings.

The two kids that the victim had from a previous relationship testified about the night of the latest rape. The rape occured on the night of custody exchange with the victim, and the rape was reported to Heidi Bresee, a SANE nurse the next day.

Both girls recounted how Mathis asked their mother to step into his bedroom to talk. He then shut the door and locked it. "There was talking, then yelling," the teen testified. "She said, 'Stop.'"

As the hours dragged on, their mother came out of the bedroom -- never out of Mathis' sight. She was wrapped in a blanket. "She smiled, but she looked like she had been crying," the older child said, acknowledging, when asked, that she saw bruises on her mother. "Her face, her arms, around her neck," she said.

"They were acting normal," she said of her mother and Mathis, "like nothing had happened."

Woman charged with killing boyfriend with documented history of abuse

A woman was charged with stabbing her boyfriend to death, but her attorney stated that she was defending herself from a man with a document history of violence against women.

Tahesia Jackson of the 1900 block of South Homan Avenue was charged late Wednesday with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Leon Brown, 30. [1st degree murder carries a sentence of 20 to 60 years without parole.] She was ordered held in lieu of $600,000 bail. Early Tuesday morning, the couple began quarreling over bus fare at Jackson's apartment and she grabbed a steak knife, said Assistant State's Atty. Jose Villarreal.

Jackson began stabbing Brown while he was lying on a mattress—gouging her own right thigh in the process—then asked a daughter to help her clean up the blood, according to Villarreal and court records.She then called 911 and admitted to stabbing Brown, Villarreal said. Brown was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after 6 a.m.Tim Grace, Jackson's attorney, said she was defending herself after Brown came to her apartment late at night and chased her into the kitchen. She grabbed a knife and warned Brown to get away from her, he said. When he didn't, she stabbed him, and he went to lie down on a bed, Grace said.

Brown pled guilty to threatening to kill a woman he knew last year on June 11 after breaking down her door. An emergency order of protection was granted, which Brown served 15 days in the Cook County Jail for violating in July by standing outside her hallway. He was arrested for stalking her in September, but charges in that case were dropped.

Man kills grown daughter's boyfriend after he allegedly attacks her

A man was killed allegedly by his girlfriend's father after attacking her in a West Side of Chicago apartment early Saturday morning.

Swantell McKinley, of the 1400 block of South Karlov Avenue, died at Mt. Sinai Hospital about 1:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.About 1 a.m., police said McKinley was allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in a second-floor apartment in the 4000 block of West Harrison Street, Chicago Officer Marcel Bright said.

The girlfriend's 40-year-old father attempted to stop the assault and began fighting with McKinley, Bright said.The medical examiner's office ruled the death a homicide. An autopsy Saturday determined that McKinley died of multiple injuries.

The death is being investigated as a homicide, but charges are not pending against the father.

A 21-year-old man accused of tying up and torturing his girlfriend over a number of days, will appear in the Caboolture [Australia] Magistrates Court this morning.
During the ordeal the 19-year-old woman had her feet bound and was assaulted with a knife and the flat blade of a machete, burnt with a cigarette lighter and raped.

Police discovered the victim with injuries to her head and body after being called to a domestic disturbance at a Torrens Road house in Caboolture about 8:30 last night.

The 21-year-old man was charged with torture, rape, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and several other offences.
