This is just sickening. A cop, sworn to help sexual assault and domestic violence victims, assaults a victim all over again. No wonder trust between cops and the people who they are supposed to protect is non-existent in some circles.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, which includes Cincinnati, is scheduled to hear the case of William Simpson, 47, a former police officer, who instead of protecting a woman from an abusive husband, stands trial on charges of rape and sexual battery from an incident October 3, 2006.

The former boyfriend had broken into her home, assaulted her and run off, according to prosecutors.
Simpson said he needed to take pictures of her injuries, prosecutors have said. The woman asked Simpson if a female officer could take the pictures or if she could take them herself, but he refused and took the photos, making sexual advances toward her, prosecutors have said. He is accused of holding her down and raping her three times, according to prosecutors.
Simpson faces 31 years in prison. In Ohio, inmates serve every day of their sentences, and there is no 50%, or even 85% time. Bad cops, even when not sex offenders, and sex offenders, even when they don't molest kids, don't have the best reputations in prison if they are convicted.

Officer faces 5th degree CSC charges for groping woman
A part time Atwater (Minnesota) officer, has been released on personal recognizance Thursday in Kandiyohi County District Court. He has been charged with groping a woman who was riding in his car, under the condition that there is no contact between him and his alleged victim.

Paul Reed Schmidt, 34, of Atwater, was released on his personal recognizance with the condition that he have no contact with the alleged victim. His next court appearance is March 6 before District Judge David L. Mennis.
During the hearing, Schmidt answered the judge’s questions with one-word answers. No plea is entered at this point in the process. Schmidt is represented by Julius Nolen, who is a former Hennepin County attorney.
Michael J. Lieberg, the Stearns County assistant county attorney serving as a special Kandiyohi County attorney on the case, made no bail request and asked only that Schmidt be ordered to have no contact with the woman.
Two misdemeanor 5th degree CSC (criminal sexual conduct) charges were filed against Schmidt, who has been placed on unpaid leave pending the resolution of the charges. Schmidt violated city policy by having an unauthorized person (the victim) riding in his squad car.
According to the complaint, the woman contacted the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office to report a sexual assault. The woman told a detective that she was a ride-along participant with Schmidt, who is a licensed peace officer and was on duty at the time.
During the ride-along, in the early morning hours of Oct. 16, Schmidt took her to the Atwater Police Department. They watched video clips on a city computer. The woman said when she got up to move away from Schmidt, he tackled and restrained her and made a sexual request of her.
The allegations also state that Schmidt groped the woman’s chest and genitals through her clothing, then pulled her to him and kissed her several times.
According to the complaint, Paul Schmidt told the detective in a statement that some “wrestling” took place at the Police Department and that he grabbed the victim’s breast “by accident.” He did not remember grabbing her genital area.

Man unlawfully imprisons woman after she refuses to have sex with him
Larry Kirby, 45, of Athens, Alabama, was arrested and charged with 3rd degree assault and 2nd degree kidnapping for holding a 28 year old woman from Pulaski, Tennesee against her will.

Women sexually assault NC football players, accomplice attempts to rob them

Police charged 2 women with sexually assaulting 3 football players from the University of North Carolina on December 16th. A male accomplice was charged with attempting to rob the same players.
The arrested are Tnika Monta Washington, 29, of Durham, Monique Jenice Taylor, 28, of Greenville and Michael Troy Lewis, 32, of Durham. Bail for all three was set initially at $500,000, but Washington's and Taylor's bails were reduced Thursday to $50,000. Lewis' remained at $500,000.
Taylor was charged with resisting a public officer, three counts of first-degree kidnapping, three counts of felony conspiracy, and three counts of first-degree sex offense. Washington's charges were the same, but included just one count of first-degree sex offense, according to court records.
Lewis was charged with three counts each of kidnapping, conspiracy, and attempted felony larceny, and two counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault on a government official, and one count of resisting an officer.
According to police, the three football players were out drinking and celebrating a birthday at a bar when they met the suspects, who gave the UNC students a ride home. The students invited the suspect trio up to their apartment. The women initially had consensual sexual contact with two of the football players, who then asked to stop. After the players decided they did not want to be touched anymore by the women, the women took things into their own hands.
Taylor and Washington began punching him in the head, Whitney said. In one account given in court Thursday, one player said Lewis stood naked with a butcher knife at his neck, that the player's pants were pulled off and that someone tried to tie his hands with a belt.
When the player protested, Lewis told him "he needed to chill out," Whitney said. Lewis pressed the knife closer to his neck while Taylor fondled him, Whitney said.
Defense attorneys Susan Seahorn and Glenn Gerding both said the sexual activity appeared to have been consensual.
Lewis is accused of taking the contents of two wallets valued at $100, and trying to take $3,000 worth of computer and entertainment equipment. He is accused also of biting a police officer in the groin and pushing him down stairs to elude arrest Sunday, according to arrest warrants.
Lawyers for the two women tried to emphasize their family ties to the Marines.
Seahorn, who represents Washington, said her client has five children and is married but separated from a man who is in the Marines. Gerding said his client, Taylor, is from Pitt County and that her father is a retired sergeant in the Marines.
Both appeared in court via closed-circuit television from jail. When Taylor heard that her bail had been reduced to $50,000, she said, "Oh, thank you, Jesus."
In a news release, UNC coach Butch Davis said, "I am relieved that the players were not injured. We will assist them in any way we can." The players and their parents could not be reached for comments at this time.
(Update 1-5-07) All felony charges have been dropped against Tnikia Washington at this time. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and the player that has accused Washington of sexually assaulting him has not been interviewed by the district attorney's office. It is possible that Washington could be re-indicted February 4. At the probable cause hearing, Judge Alonzo Coleman found there is enough evidence against the other two suspects, Monique Taylor and Michael Lewis for their charges to remain pending.

Macon police officer accused of sexual coercion fired

A police report says that Enders solicited sex from the initial victim and coerced another woman to take of her clothes by promising not to jail her. A victim initially went to the Georgia Bureau Of Investigation (GBI), but the case was transferred back to Macon police.
Later in the day, another one of the women under suspicion met with Enders at his office. While being questioned by Enders, the woman complained that she felt she wasn't free to leave, according to the report. At one point in the conversation, Enders told the woman that he "could make things disappear if something could be done for him."
When other officers later interviewed the woman about the conversation, she said she had asked Enders what he meant and "having sex with him" was mentioned, according to the report. She told officers that Enders called her repeatedly later that evening, and she did have sex with him at her apartment "because she did not want to go to jail."
A third woman being investigatedtold officers that Enders made her take off her clothes in his office with the lights out after stating that he could make her case go away, according to the report. While disrobed, the woman told officers that Enders saw the woman's sister drive into the parking lot outside the police department, and he told her to put on her clothes, leave and not tell her sister what had happened, according to the report.
After the interview, the woman told officers Enders repeatedly called her "wanting to get together," according to the report. Officers outfitted the third woman with a wire after launching an investigation into Enders' alleged activities Dec. 26. They were listening when Enders met with the woman at Applebee's on Riverside Drive. After listening to the conversation and observing Enders, officers arrested Enders.
Officers took towels from the second woman's apartment into evidence, according to the report.
Enders was hired back in 2003 as a bike patrolman, and trasnfereed to a property crimes investigator in 2006. There were no disiplinary actions in his file at the time of arrest.

Ex-CSU employee charged in sexual assaults on college coeds
A former Colorado State University employee, who used his knowledge of the layout of the university to burglarize and sexually assault CSU coeds, has been charged with more offenses.
The Ft. Collins, CO Coloradan has more in their story Samuel Kase White, accused in sex assaults near CSU, faces more charges.
Prosecutors Thursday filed one charge of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor unlawful sexual contact against [Samuel Kase]White. The burglary charge stems from an alleged September 29 burglary and the unlawful sexual contact stems from an alleged October 10 event.
Prosecutor Emily Humphries said a different victim in involved in each charge. White, 30, already faces two counts of sexual assault and one count of burglary in connection with an August 29 incident, as well as three counts of sexual assault and two counts of burglary in connection with two sexual assaults that occurred September 28.
White was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the charges, but his attorney requested more time because of the new charges and preliminary investigation, schedules to wrap up at the end of the month.

On Sept. 28 at a home in the 1100 block of Westward Drive, a man sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman as she slept. When she awoke about 4 a.m. and confronted him, he ran out the front door, Davis said. A short time later, in the 1800 block of Broadview Place between 4 and 5 a.m., a 21-year-old woman awoke to find a man tugging on her pants. She yelled, and he fled, Davis said.
White was previously arrested Dec. 2 on counts of trespassing and harassment after allegedly window-peeping at a residence on East Laurel Street, Davis said. He also had been arrested Sept. 8 in a window-peeping incident on East Plum Street.
CSU, which required background checks only on sensitive employees such as child-care workers, is now requiring background checks on all workers. White was hired as a personnel assistant, and had access to information about students, though it is unknown if he had access to victim info. He was a student who took an upper-level business course.

Patrick Ludwig, a repeat sex offender, has been convicted of sexually assaulting his neighbor in Waterford, Conneticut.

Ludwig, 37, pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual assault and tampering with a witness. He is to be sentenced Jan. 3 to six years in prison, suspended after three years, and 10 years probation. Ludwig, who had been convicted previously of a sex offense, will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Judge Susan B. Handy placed him on house arrest until his sentencing and ordered that he be monitored electronically. Ludwig and his attorney, Linda Sullivan, had no comment on the plea.
The victim requested the plea agreement, and was present with her sister to discuss the deal. She still lives in a condo next to Ludwig's current, soon to be former residence.
"They wanted the certainty of a conviction given the unique proximity with which she lives to him," [Prosecutor John P. Gravalec]Pannone said.

Ludwig was sentenced to 3 years is prison and ordered to register as a sex offender for life. There are more details regarding the sexual assault and witness tampering Ludwig committed.
The victim told police that Ludwig came to her apartment to help her with a heating problem, then forced her into her bedroom and raped her with her 2-year-old daughter in the home.
“This is the first case I've had in the 20 years of doing this that the sex assault victim and the assailant literally live next door to each other,” said Gravalec-Pannone.
While Ludwig raped her, the victim was thinking about her sister, who was raped and murdered in South Carolina back in 1991. She called her other sister after the attack, who looked up Ludwig's name on the sex offender registry. Ludwig has a previous conviction of 2nd degree sexual assault against a then 11 year old victim back in 1990.
In the witness-tampering case, Ludwig sent a letter to a church in Texas using the victim's return address. Addressed to a pastor, the letter purported to be a confession by the victim that she had wrongfully accused a man of rape. The letter was returned to the woman because the church had moved to a new address, police said.

The woman told police she was able to dial her mother’s phone number on her cell phone during the assault, and her mother, brother and his friend came over to help her and take her to police.
According to the police report, Irwin’s eyes were bloodshot and his breath had a strong odor of alcohol when he was transported to the LCDC. Irwin told the officer he had played beer pong with a friend and had gone home when he believes the alleged victim used a key he had given her to get into the home to talk. According to Irwin, the woman was standing in the doorway for a minute or so when three other people appeared. Irwin told the officer one of the men started beating him and he called the police.
Among the numerous charges that Irwin faces are sexual assault, domestic violence, and 3rd degree assault.

Teacher, accused of inappropriate comments with female students, charged with raping woman, commits suicide

West Ashley (South Carolina) teacher Scott Larue Knight, accused of making sexually inappropriate comments to female students, is charge with raping a woman, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested Scott Larue Knight, 39, Friday on charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, sheriff's Maj. John Clark said.
Affidavits describe an attack in September at Knight's home at Concord West of the Ashley on 45 Sycamore Ave., Clark said.
Knight is accused of pushing a woman in her early 30s into his room and locking the door, then forcibly raping her, Clark said. Knight was arrested at home. He left the Charleston County Detention Center on Saturday after posting $20,000 bail, according to court documents and the jail. Knight has been on administrative leave from his teaching job since being arrested Nov. 14 on two counts of first- degree harassment, according to the school district.
The harassment charges stem from incidents with inappropriate comments directed at teenage students. A 16 year old girl claimed that starting in June, Knight started to make inappropriate comments directed at her in front of her boyfriend. The comments started back up when the school year started, and Knight allegedly started staring at her in her classroom while outside. Her parents made a report to her school's administration. Another girl, 14, reported similar comments made allegedly by Knight.
Update (12-31-07) Knight commited suicide on the 27th by crashing his car into a tree. A suicide note was found.

Woman raped after leaving own birthday party in Queens
James Moye, 19, was arrested after allegedly chasing, then kidnapping and raping a 19 year old woman who had just left her own birthday party in Queens, NY.

“It is alleged that a Saturday night birthday celebration at a friend’s house turned into a nightmare early Sunday morning for the victim,” said District Attorney Richard A. Brown. “Like predatory animals, the defendant and an unapprehended individual are alleged to have chased down their victim before brutally victimizing her at gunpoint. The consequences of such a sexual assault for a victim are profound and can result in emotional trauma from which she may never fully recover.”
James Moye, 19, of 106-12 223rd Street in Queens Village, has been arraigned before Queens Criminal Court Judge William Harrington on charges of predatory sexual assault, first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act and second-degree kidnapping.Moye, who faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted, was ordered held without bail and to return to court on January 7, 2008.
According to the criminal charges, Moye and an unapprehended accomplice chased the 19-year-old female college student into a yard in the vicinity of 108th Avenue and 220th Street in Queens Village during the early morning hours December 9 and that, after the unapprehended individual displayed a black handgun, both he and Moye ordered the victim to get into Moye’s van.
After the victim was forced in the back of the van, Moye and the unnamed accomplice drove around for a few hours, then took turns raping and sexually assaulting her in other ways. The suspects then drove the victim to Jamaica Center where they ordered the alleged victim out of the van. She ran for help at the nearest subway station.

Two men who carried out a plan to rape women while the women were drunk or alone were sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison. They tried to rape a woman, but she screamed and they ran away. They followed a second woman after the first attempt, and were more sucessful the second time around.
